Alvarez Leads La Fiera to Road Win

BEAUMONT, Texas - Horacio Alvarez scored four goals to lead Hidalgo La Fiera in a road victory over the Texas Strikers by a score 14-3 on Saturday night at the Ford Arena.
The Strikers (0-4) got on the board first when David Molloy scored on a pass from Chris Meyer giving Texas a 1-0 lead in the first quarter. Texas added a second goal from Angelo Sanchez which made it 2-0 with over 10 minutes left in the first quarter.
La Fiera (5-1) would rally from the two goal deficit when Horacio Alvarez scored his first of four goals to trim the Strikers lead to 2-1. Hidalgo would even the score at two when Damian Garcia would score the first goal of his hat-trick and his fifth goal of the season.
Hidalgo increased their lead when Angel Sanchez scored making it 3-2 over Texas. Garcia scored his second of the night on a power play that gave La Fiera a 4-2 halftime lead.
In the third quarter it was all La Fiera when they would score seven times highlighted by two Garcia goals; the second which was a power play goal gave him his hat trick for the game making it 11-2 over the Strikers. Alvarez scored his second of the game during the third quarter of the game.
La Fiera would pad its lead in the final quarter when Alvarez notched his hat trick making it 12-2 over Texas. Joel Perez scored his sixth goal of the season making it 13-2.
Texas added a late consolation goal in the fourth quarter when Pedro Montes scored his first goal of the season making 13-3.
Alvarez scored his fourth goal of the game and the final goal for La Fiera making it a 14-3 road victory. Hidalgo improves to 3-1 on the road and 5-1 overall. La Fiera went 2-for-2 on the power play.
Goal keeper and Brownsville native Juan Gamboa earned his fifth victory of the season playing all 60 minutes while making eight saves.
The next game for Hidalgo La Fiera is on Sunday, December 15th when they host the Monterrey Flash at State Farm Arena with the kickoff set for 7:05 pm.
