THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia concluded the 2013 regular season with a 5-3 victory over the Lexington Legends Monday afternoon on the road. Chris Diaz scored the first run of the game for West Virginia after Jordan Steranka hit into an RBI fielder's choice. After Lexington tied the game in the third, the Power scored three runs in the fifth. Eric Wood hit a two-RBI single up the middle, plating Francisco Diaz and Jimmy Rider. Two batters later, Raul Fortunato drove home Chris Diaz with an RBI single. After the Legends scored two in the bottom of the fifth to make it 4-3, the Power added an insurance run in the sixth. Jhondaniel Medina collecting his 13th save of the season.

CAN'T HOLD ANYTHING BACK NOW: The Power will play the Hagerstown Suns for the Northern Division Championship. This season, West Virginia has five wins in 13 games against the Suns. These two teams most recently met at the beginning of July, where the Suns swept the Power in three games in Hagerstown. West Virginia played 10 of the 13 games against Hagerstown at Appalachian Power Park and are 5-5 against the Suns in Charleston.

BEST NOT MISS: West Virginia posted the best overall record in the Northern Division in the 2013 season with an overall record of 82-58. The Suns finished a half game behind the Power in the overall standings with an 80-57 record. West Virginia's 82 wins is tied for the most in the entire South Atlantic League with the Augusta Greenjackets, who played three less games than the Power.

SAL HONORS: Josh Bell and Tyler Glasnow were selected by the SAL as two of the best at their respective positions in the annual end-of-season All-Star ballot. Bell was chosen as one of the best four outfielders in the league after playing in 119 games this season, sporting a .279 average with 13 home runs and 76 runs batted in. Glasnow was selected as the league's best right-handed pitcher after striking out a league best 164 batters over 111.1 innings pitched.

WHO TO WATCH: The Power have a team batting average of .241 against the Hagerstown Suns. Notable players in the season series are Josh Bell and Walker Gourley. Bell is batting .340 in 12 games against the Suns with one home run and eight RBI. Gourley has played every game this year against Hagerstown and is batting .409 with one home run, six RBI, and six walks

PLAYOFF HISTORY: The reached the postseason for the first time since 2008. The 2008 club swept Lake County in two games to claim the Northern Division crown, but were swept by Augusta in the league Championship. The only other time the Power reached the postseason was the third year in club history, where the 2007 squad beat Hickory in the first round two games to one, but were swept by Columbus in the league championship.

POWER POINTS: The 82 wins by the Power this season are tied for the most in franchise history... The Northern Division champion will play the winner of the Savannah/ Augusta series for the South Atlantic League title starting on September 9...Raul Fortunato has hit safely in six straight games...Tyler Glasnow has thrown 11 consecutive hitless innings.. Clay Holmes was transferred to the GCL Pirates roster Wednesday and Josh Smith was activated from the Power disabled list.

PLAYOFF PROMO UPDATE: When West Virginia hosts Hagerstown on September 4 in the first game of the Northern Division Championship, all tickets will be free courtesy of Thomas Health System, Suddenlink, V100, US Foods, and Bert Wolfe Ford. Tickets will be available on Tuesday, September 3, at 9:00 am at the Power box office. In addition, the first 1,500 fansthrough the gates on Wednesday will receive a free t-shirt.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: The Pittsburgh Pirates won their 81st game of the season thanks to a 4-3 final in Milwaukee after Travis Snider hit the go-ahead solo home run in the top of the ninth... Indianapolis begins the first round of playoffs tonight and send Brandon Cumpton to pitch game one at 7:05... Jamestown lost to State College 3-1 and will play the regular season finale at 6:05. The Jammers will then have off Thursday and begin the New York-Penn League Playoffs Friday versus the Spikes.
