Calgary Stampeders News Release
It's a rematch of the 100th Grey Cup on Friday as the Stampeders travel to Toronto to face the Argonauts. Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m. MDT and the game will be broadcast on Newstalk 770 and TSN.
Fans in the Calgary can catch all the action at the Stamps' official site for Road Game Tweet-ups - Shark Club Deerfoot Meadows (7995 11th St. SE).
The Stampeders and Argonauts are both off to 5-2 starts in 2013. Calgary, currently sitting second in the West Division, is trying to get back on track after seeing its four-game winning streak come to an end with a 26-22 road loss to the BC Lions on Saturday.
East Division-leading Toronto is now on a four-game winning streak of its own after upending the Edmonton Eskimos 36-33 on Sunday.
The Stamps and Argos are two of three CFL clubs (Saskatchewan is the other) averaging more than 30 points per game on offence.
Including last year's Grey Cup, the Stamps have dropped six straight contests against Toronto.
Calgary's latest win against the Argonauts came on July 1, 2010. Since that date, the Stamps have lost five consecutive regular-season dates with Toronto, all of them by fewer than 10 points and four of them by either two or three points.
The game features two of the league's most dynamic offensive players and the two finalists for the CFL's Most Outstanding Player award in 2012 - Calgary running back Jon Cornish and Toronto receiver Chad Owens.
Both players are off to great starts this season as Cornish has 749 rushing yards and 916 yards from scrimmage while Owens has 572 receiving yards and 607 yards from scrimmage.
In transaction news, the Stamps announce that import linebacker Akeem Davis has been released from the practice roster.
The Stampeders' next home action comes on Monday, Sept. 2 when they play host to the Edmonton Eskimos in the Labour Day Classic presented by Jayman. Kickoff at McMahon Stadium is at 3 p.m. and tickets are available at Stampeders.com
