Windsor Spitfires News Release
The Windsor Spitfires Foundation is proud to announce details of the 1st Annual 'Mickey's Run'; a day of family fun and a 1k, 5k and 10k walking / running event established in memory of Our Captain Forever, Mickey Renaud. All proceeds from the event will go directly to the Windsor Spitfires Foundation, for distribution throughout the communities of Windsor & Essex County to the many charitable organizations and social agencies it supports annually.
"Not a day goes by that our organization doesn't think about the person Mickey Renaud was. About his leadership and character," said Spitfires President and
Head Coach Bob Boughner. "We wanted to create an annual event that would not only raise money to support the Windsor Spitfires Foundation, but also honour Mickey's life and legacy."
The event, presented by Windsor Family Credit Union, is set to take place on Sunday, August 18th, at the WFCU Centre.
Southland Insurance is the proud sponsor of the 1k Kids Fun Run, which gets started at 9:15 am, followed by the 5k walk / run and 10k run at 10:30, presented by Centerline, Hogan's Printing and media partner CKLW AM800. Registration includes a fun gathering for all ages at Average Joe's Sports Bar after the runs, with food and prizes and a chance to meet the Windsor Spitfire team!
