Suns Announce Roster Moves

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Miami Marlins announced a transaction that impacts their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to Thursday evening's series opening contest with the Montgomery Biscuits at Bragan Field.

Infielder Chris Gutierrez has been transferred from Triple-A New Orleans to Jacksonville. In 11 games for the Zephyrs, the 28-year-old recorded a .409 average (9-22) with two runs scored and two RBI. Prior to being transferred to New Orleans on May 29, Gutierrez accumulated a .171 clip (12-70) with five RBI in 31 contests for the Suns.

In a corresponding move, catcher Aaron Dudley has been transferred from Jacksonville to the Gulf Coast Marlins. In his 12 games for the Suns, the backstop compiled an .071 mark (1-14) with an RBI.

The Suns roster now stands at 25, in addition to Marlins right-handed pitcher Nathan Eolvaldi on his Major League Rehab Assignment, and a revised roster is attached.

Jacksonville enters play tonight trailing the Mobile BayBears by two games in the Southern League South Division with five contests remaining in the division's first half title chase and face the Montgomery Biscuits, the Double-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays tonight to begin a five-game series. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. at Bragan Field, with Eovaldi scheduled to make his third start with the Suns as part of his Major League Rehab Assignment.
