Inland Empire 66ers News Release
San Bernardino, CA - Inland Empire 66ers starting pitcher Kramer Sneed is the latest 66ers player to earn a California League player of the week award. Sneed went 2-0 during the first week of June allowing just one run and seven hits over 13 innings with 11 strikeouts.
"He is just a great competitor, and has a great demeanor on the mound," said Inland Empire 66ers Manager Bill Haselman of his award winning starter. After hearing he had won the award Sneed called it a huge honor but was quick to give credit to, "my teammates and my catcher's especially. A lot of credit to our hitters too, because you need runs to win games and I certainly don't do that."
Sneed used his array of offerings to dominate the High Desert Mavericks in his most recent start, allowing the league's second highest run scoring offense just two hits over six shutout innings. "He is a competitive strike thrower," said 66ers pitching coach Brandon Emanuel of the left hander. "He commands his fastball well and mixes in his off speed stuff."
Sneed was the product of the Angels trade with the Yankees at the end of spring training that sent former major league All Star Vernon Wells to the Bronx. Despite an up and down 2012 in the Yankees farm system, Sneed has lived up to the talent the Angels saw in him when they traded for him, leading the 66ers to a 10-2 record in games in which he appears.
Sneed said after winning the award that he, "would trade it in right now in exchange for a first half title." Sneed and the 66ers continue their pursuit of a first half title in the California League against the Stockton Ports through Wednesday at San Manuel Stadium.
