Niagara IceDogs News Release

The Niagara IceDogs will be holding their orientation day for all 2013 draft picks this Saturday, June 8th beginning at 9:30am.

The day will start with all the draft picks convening for breakfast before boarding the team bus to begin the tour of some key IceDog locations. The first stop of the day will be a visit to White Oaks where the players will tour the gym and training facilities used by the IceDogs.

While at the facilities, the players will do some fitness testing while their parents will have the opportunity to participate in a question and answer session with IceDogs billet coordinator Jill Saxton. Jill will answer any questions the parents might have about billeting and the players living conditions, which are always important for helping parents be as comfortable as possible. Once the testing and questions are finished, everyone will board the bus once again and head for Governor Simcoe Secondary School.

When the draft picks and their families arrive at the school, the players will receive a tour of Governor Simcoe, which is the high school that the IceDogs high school players attend.

From the school, the draft picks and their families will then head to the Gatorade Garden City Complex where they will tour the IceDogs current home arena and the team facilities on site.

Finally, the tour will finish up with a bit of excitement as the bus heads by the construction site of the new St. Catharines Spectator Facility, the future home of the Niagara IceDogs beginning in September of 2014.

At the conclusion of the tour of the various IceDogs facilities, the draft picks and their families will return to J.J. Kapps the place where the day started where the draft picks and their families will enjoy a BBQ to wrap up an exciting day for the IceDogs, the draft picks and their families, as everyone gets a glimpse of the future of the IceDogs.

With the excitement of the day, the IceDogs would like to encourage any fans that see the IceDogs bus on Saturday to give the bus a honk and a wave and help us welcome the IceDogs 2013 draft picks to St. Catharines and the Niagara Region!
