Inland Empire 66ers News Release

San Bernardino, CA - The Inland Empire 66ers will add one of the Angels most exciting players to its roster today as outfielder Peter Bourjos starts a rehab assignment Monday when the team begins a three game series in Rancho Cucamonga.

Bourjos is attempting to work his way back from a left hamstring strain that sidelined him April 29th. An exact timeline for the rehab assignment has not been set, but it is possible that Bourjos could still be with the team when they return home for their next game at San Manuel Stadium on Thursday. Bourjos was batting .313 when he was placed on the disabled list, and is expected to return to centerfield when he gets back to the Angels.

This will be Bourjos second time in the California League. In 2008 he was a member of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes where he hit .295 with nine home runs, 51 RBI, 50 stolen bases and 10 triples. Since arriving in the majors with the Angels in 2010 he has hit .253 with 23 HR, 85 runs batted in and has scored 130 times. In 2011 he led the American League in triples with 11.
