
Pittsburgh Assigns Pouliot to Wilkes Barre/Scranton

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - It was announced today that the Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned defenseman Derrick Pouliot to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton from the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League.
Pouliot, 19, recently completed his third full season with Portland as the Winterhawks claimed the Western Hockey League championship and also reached the final game of the Memorial Cup. The Weyburn, Saskatchewan native recorded nine goals, 36 assists and 60 penalty minutes in 44 games and added 20 points (4g-16a) in 21 playoff games.
The eighth overall pick by Pittsburgh in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Pouliot has totaled 135 points (25g-110a) and 177 PIM in 189 contests and helped lead the Winterhawks to the WHL Final in 2011 and 2012. He has also compiled eight goals and 33 assists over 64 career postseason matches.
