Mississippi Braves News Release

PEARL, MS -- RHP Ryne Harper has been activated from the disabled list, and LHP Cole McCurry has been promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett from Double-A Mississippi. RHP Luis Ayala has completed his rehab assignment with the M-Braves and has been recalled by the Atlanta Braves and placed on the disabled list in Atlanta.

Harper, 24, was placed on the disabled list with a right shoulder strain April 22. At the time he had posted a record of 1-0 with three saves and no ERA in five outings for the M-Braves. Harper picked up his first win of the season on April 20 at Mobile. He also drove in two runs with a double in the top of the ninth to lead the M-Braves to an 8-5 victory. The Clarksville, TN, native was originally drafted by the Braves in the 37th round of the 2011 draft out of Austin Peay.

McCurry, 27, joined the M-Braves on May 15. He appeared in two games allowing one run in four innings. He was 0-1 with one save and a 4.15 ERA in 11 outings for the Gwinnett Braves. McCurry had a rough outing on May 9 where he gave up five earned runs in one inning. Without that outing, the Chandler, NC, native has a 1.56 ERA for the G-Braves. McCurry was acquired by the Braves from Baltimore for cash considerations on June 16, 2012.

After his rehab assignment was transferred from Gwinnett to Mississippi on May 14, Ayala did not allow a run in three rehab outings for the M-Braves. He gave up two hits and struck out two in three innings. Atlanta placed Ayala on the disabled list April 30 due to an anxiety disorder. He had a record of 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA in five outings for the Braves. Ayala was traded to Atlanta by the Orioles in exchange for lefty Chris Jones on April 10. He was 1-0 with a 9.00 ERA in two outings before leaving Baltimore.

The Mississippi roster has 25 active players and 5 disabled.
