Greenville Drive News Release

Friday night's game took four hours to complete, but after 11 innings the crowd at Fluor Field finally got their fireworks, as Bryan Johns hit a walk-off single to right field to give the Greenville Drive (13-28) a 7-6 victory over the Charleston RiverDogs (22-16). The win ends Greenville's five-game losing skid.

Tim Roberson led off the bottom of the 11th with a single off RiverDogs reliever Alex Smith (2-2), and pinch runner Dreily Guerrero stole second with two outs. The stolen base proved crucial when Johns' lone hit of the game snuck through the right side and plated Guerrero for the victory.

The Drive fell into an early hole after allowing six runs in the first four innings, including a two-run home run in the first inning by Charleston DH Greg Bird against Pat Light. However, Greenville fought back with the help of the offense, which pounded out 17 hits.

Drew Turocy led the way with a 4-for-5 night, including a triple and two RBIs. Turocy now is hitting a team-leading .281 on the season. Roberson contributed to the cause by going 3-for-6 with a double and an RBI. He is now hitting .367 (11-30) in seven games since being activated off of the disabled list earlier this month. Jayson Hernandez added three hits, while Mookie Betts picked up three more hits for the Drive to push his current hit streak to 12 games. Cody Koback also collected a pair of hits.

The Drive got a great relief appearance from Yunior Ortega. Ortega came in to start the fifth inning and shut the RiverDogs' lineup down, as he fired four scoreless innings of work with one hit, one walk and five punchouts. Kyle Kraus (2-0) picked up the victory for Greenville, as he allowed no hits in three innings while striking out three.

Jake Cave had two hits for Charleston, while Bird and Yeicok Calderon each drove in a pair.

These two teams will meet again on Saturday to recognize the nation's military during Armed Forces Day at Fluor Field. Cody Kukuk (2-4, 3.99 ERA) gets the call for the Drive, while Vicente Campos (1-1, 3.97 ERA) will start for the RiverDogs.
