Breakers Head to FC Kansas City with Unbeaten Streak IntactMay 17, 2013 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Boston Breakers
The Breakers head into Saturday night's match (8:35 p.m. ET) in second place in the NWSL table on 8 points with a 2-0-2 record. A win would push them closer to the top of the table and just two points back of Portland and Sky Blue, who are tied on points (13). The Breakers also have a game in hand.
The Breakers, fresh off a 1-1 draw with the Washington Spirit, courtesy of Joanna Lohman's first goal of the year, come into the match with the league's leading scorer in Sydney Leroux (4 goals, 9 points) and league's assist leader, Lianne Sanderson, who has three assists on the season.
FC Kansas City comes into Saturday's game at 2-1-1, tied for fourth place with the Western New York Flash. They've allowed the fewest goals in the league this year, due in large part to U.S. Women's National Team keeper Nicole Barnhart, who has allowed a league-low three goals and is second in the NWSL with two shutouts. Renae Cuéllar leads the Blues with three goals, followed by former Breaker Lauren Cheney (1 goal, 2 assists) and Sinead Farrelly (1 goal).
Saturday's game will be broadcast on the NWSL YouTube page.
