JUPITER, FL- Jonathan Cornelius pieced together his best outing of the season Monday night at Roger Dean Stadium. The 24-year-old sat down the first 12 batters he faced in order before giving up his first hit in the fifth inning.

Heading into today's matchup, Cornelius' season high for innings pitched was 4 1/3. Tonight, the lefty cruised past his previous high as he tossed seven innings while giving up only one hit, walking none and striking out four.

Palm Beach jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first, courtesy of an RBI double off the bat of Jonathan Rodriguez . The Cards tallied another run in the third after taking advantage of a fielding error and an RBI single from Colin Walsh (1-3, RBI, 2BB).

The game would be put out of reach when the Cardinals opened the flood gates in the bottom of the seventh scoring five runs on five hits and a walk.

The 7-0 shutout marks the Cardinals second straight win after a five game losing drought.

Offensively for the redbirds, eight of the starting nine collected hits including multi-hit nights from Nick Longmire (2-5, R), Jonathan Rodriguez (2-4, 2B, 2RBI) and Anthony Garcia (2-4 2RBI).

Palm Beach will play the second game of a four game series against the Lakeland Flying Tigers tomorrow, 6:35 p.m. at Roger Dean Stadium.
