Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

The Lookouts spotted the Bay Bears a four-run lead Wednesday morning in a Business Day Special promotion. But those fans who stuck out past noon saw a comeback fall just short as Mobile evening the series at one win apiece with a 5-4 victory.

Jon Griffin, who had four RBIs in the game, had the big early hit -- a bases-clearing double in the thid inning after Lookouts starter Chris Reed loaded the bases with walks. But Reed settled down and the bullpen was firm enough to only allow one later run, coming on a Griffin single in the seventh off reliever Kyle Cofield.

The Lookouts' comeback began in the sixth. Joc Peterson led off the inning with his ninth double of the season and came around on Yasiel Puig's hit for the Cuban prospect's 16th RBI of the season. C.J. Retherford doubled the damage with an RBI single.

The comeback took on a new dimension before what was left of a huge crowd of 5,374 with back-to-back homers from Blake Smith and Retherford (the third for each) in the eighth to make it a one-run game. Miguel Rojas would walk with two out in the eighth, and Peterson would get yet another hit in the hinth, but Mobile reliever Kevin Munson retired Puig and Smith as the winning run at the plate.

Michael Bolsinger (2-0) got the win for Mobile after starter Archie Bradley was only able to go two innings. In all, the Bay Bears used six pitcher. Reed (1-3) got the loss, working only three innings.

Peterson had a huge day for the Lookouts, going 3-for-3 with two walks in his five total plate appearances, raising his aveage to .328 -- enough to place him second among Southern League hitters. The two teams meet again Thursday night at 7:15 with it currently tied one win apiece.
