
Bethancourt Activated, Landoni to Lynchburg

PEARL, MS -- Catcher Christian Bethancourt was activated from the disabled list and infielder Emerson Landoni was reassigned to High-A Lynchburg from Double-A Mississippi.
Bethancourt, 21, was placed on the disabled list May 1 with a left hamstring strain. At the time Bethancourt was hitting .341 in 12 games for the M-Braves. He entered the 2013 season ranked as the third-best prospect and the Best Defensive Catcher in the Atlanta Braves system according to Baseball America. The Panamanian was signed by the Atlanta Braves as a free agent on March 12, 2008. In 2012, Bethancourt was selected to participate in the MLB All-Star Future's Game and was named as a Southern League Mid-Season All-Star.
Landoni, 24, started the season on the disabled list at High-A Lynchburg but was activated and transferred to Double-A Mississippi on April 23. In 10 games with the M-Braves, Landoni was hitting .348 with a double, one homer and seven RBI. The Venezuelan signed with the Braves as a free agent on December 20, 2011. He was originally signed by the Marlins in December 2005 but was released in 2007. He signed with New York in 2008 and played four seasons in the Yankees organization.
The Mississippi roster has 25 active players and 5 disabled.
