(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - Whether it is his storied career on the diamond or his famous curled moustache, fans will not want to miss out on the chance to see Hall of Fame pitcher Rollie Fingers when he makes an appearance at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium on Wednesday, July 3rd, as part of the 2013 Superstar Series presented by The BC Sports Hall of Fame and Blakes.

Fingers is widely considered to be the first true 'closer' in Major League Baseball as his efforts late in games made him revered and made other managers redefine how they would build their pitching staffs to handle key moments late in games.

Early in Fingers career, he would be a part of three Oakland A's World Championship teams in 1972, 73 and 74 before eventually moving to San Diego where he would become the games top closer winning the Rolaids Relief Pitcher of the Year in 1977, 78 and 80 with the Padres.

Fingers would secure his place in Cooperstown in 1981 when as a closer, he would win the Cy Young Award, American League Most Valuable Player and Rolaids Relief Pitcher of the Year all while pitching for the Milwaukee Brewers.

"Charles O. Finlay said come see the Amazing A's! White shoes, moustaches, gold uniforms and an amazing cast of characters, all the A's did was win! One of the most amazing characters was the 'Fireman' Rollie Fingers who saved many a game and changed the game along the way," reflects Bill Maclagan, Office Managing Partner, Blakes who along with The BC Sports Hall of Fame are proud to present the 2013 Superstar Series.

A seven-time All-Star, Fingers would play 17 Major League seasons recording 341 saves before finding his way to Cooperstown in 1992 when he received 82% of the BBWAA vote. Despite being away from the game since 1982 (32 years), Fingers remains 10th on the all-time MLB saves list with 341.

Fingers joins Larry Walker (Aug 13), Ernie Whitt (Aug 14) and Tim Raines (July 11) as players that have committed to the 2013 Superstar Series presented by The BC Sports Hall of Fame and Blakes.

Friday (tomorrow), the Canadians will announce the final member of the 2013 Superstar Series presented by The BC Sports Hall of Fame and Blakes and also unveil their full 2013 Promotional Schedule.
