Palm Beach Cardinals News Release
JUPITER, FL- Fort Myers four run outburst in the fifth proved to be enough Tuesday night at Roger Dean Stadium, taking down the Palm Beach Cardinals 5-1.
RHP Sam Gaviglio got off to a hot start, tossing three hitless innings while walking two. It was not until the top of the fourth when he gave up his first hit. However, that hit happened to be a solo-homer off the powerful bat of Baseball America's #12 ranked prospect, Miguel Sano. The home run marked a FSL leading 7th for Sano and 19th RBI which is tied for the league lead.
From that point on it was downhill for Gaviglio, the Oregon native proceeded to give up 5 hits in the fifth along with a walk, ultimately resulting in four Miracle runners crossing the plate.
Palm Beach struggled to get the bats rolling, not scoring their first run until the 8th. The run came on a walk and a pair of singles by Stephen Piscotty (2-4) and Cody Stanley (2-4, RBI).
On the upside, RHP Chris Corrigan made his first appearance of the season where he threw four innings of shutout baseball, giving up 2H, 2BB, and striking out two.
The Cardinals will have an off day tomorrow, followed by the start of a three game series against the Jupiter Hammerheads on Thursday night at Roger Dean Stadium.
WP: Taylor Rogers (1-0) LP: Sam Gaviglio (3-1)
