(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, BC) - The Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club is proud to announce that longtime Vancouver Province writer Terry Bell and North Shore Outlook columnist Len Corben have been selected as the 2013 inductees to the Broadcast & Journalism Hall of Fame.
Recently retired, Terry Bell spent more than three decades covering all of Vancouver's top sporting moments from Stanley Cups to Olympic Games. Amidst his robust resume is a lengthy tenure as beat writer for the Vancouver Canadians, both at the Pacific Coast League and Northwest League levels.
"Terry gave his readers a beautiful perspective of how life was as a Minor League Baseball player," states current Canadians broadcaster Rob Fai. "His ability to sense a story before it had fully developed was one of Terry's gifts and I am thrilled that the current Hall of Fame membership chose to bring him into their family here at Scotiabank Field".
Len Corben continues to write actively for the Outlook and has been bringing sports to life for more than 40 years, mainly on the North Shore. A dedicated journalist to both amateur and professional sports, Corben has always found a passion for baseball covering the Vancouver Mounties, Capilanos and Canadians.
"In my mind, Len might be one of Vancouver's most treasured journalists. The depth of his stories and eloquence in which he writes about both people and moments in time is wonderful," adds Fai.
Both Terry Bell and Len Corben will be inducted into the Vancouver Canadians Broadcast & Journalism Hall of Fame on Saturday, August 17th, 2013 at 6:30pm. The Canadians will host the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes at 7:05pm that night.
