Kitchener Rangers News Release

Kitchener Rangers General Manager and Head Coach Steve Spott announced Tuesday that additional players have been recalled by their respective National Hockey League clubs.

Goaltender John Gibson has been recalled by the Anaheim Ducks and assigned to the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League. Selected by the Ducks in the second round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Gibson signed with the team in March 2012. Earlier this week, he was named the Rangers' Most Valuable Player of the playoffs for a second consecutive season. Gibson also backstopped the United States to a gold medal at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship, where he was named tournament MVP.

Winger Joshua Leivo (Toronto Maple Leafs) has signed an Amateur Tryout (ATO) contract with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. Leivo was a third round pick of the Maple Leafs in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, and was the Rangers' scoring leader in 2012-13. Traded to Kitchener in early January, the Innisfil, ON native recorded 10 goals and 19 assists in 29 regular season games with the Rangers.

Forward Matia Marcantuoni (Pittsburgh Penguins) will join the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins (AHL). Pittsburgh's fourth-round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Marcantuoni recorded 25 regular season points in his third season with the Rangers, and added a goal and an assist in the playoffs.
