Area Youth to Compete at Silver Cross Field in MLB Pitch, Hit & Run

(Joliet, IL) - The Joliet Slammers, presented by ATI Physical Therapy, will host a free Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Competition for area youth beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20 at Silver Cross Field.

The Slammers' Box Office will be open for the event with single game tickets currently on sale starting at only $5 per game. If you plan on attending the event, please RSVP to Lauren Las at llas@jolietslammers.com .

Those who wish to participate can have their parents fill out the registration form in advance at www.jolietslammers.com/phr . They can also fill out the form the day of the event beginning at 7:00 a.m. All participants will enter at the main gate of Silver Cross Field at the corners of Jefferson St. and Mayor Art Schultz Drive.

Pitch, Hit & Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball. This grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills.

Boys and girls are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2013 MLB All-Star Game.

The individual Pitching, Hitting and Running Champions, along with the All-Around Champion in each age and gender group at the Local Competition will be awarded and advance to the Sectional Level of Competition.

All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or guardian fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition. For questions concerning the competition, please contact your Local Coordinator, Lauren Las at 815-651-2042.

Season tickets, loaded ticket packages and group outings for the 2013 season are available now by calling 815-722-2287. Opening Night is Friday, May 17 at 7:05 p.m. as the Slammers take on the Traverse City Beach Bums.
