WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Sweets Baseball has become the Walla Walla Valley's choice for summer entertainment and fun. With that idea of fun in mind, the club is once again partnering with the Downtown Walla Walla Foundation to host the second annual Sweets Downtown Block Party.

The party will be Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 5 pm - 7 pm on Main Street from the Colville to Spokane (in front of the Sweets Shoppe). Games, face painting, food from downtown restaurants, music, and other family-friendly activities will be in place to help celebrate the start of another summer in Walla Walla. Sweets players will be in attendance to sign autographs and take pictures with fans.

The inaugural event was hosted last season in honor of the Sweets hosting the 2012 WCL All-Star Game. Main Street between Spokane and Colville became the life of the party, with music, food, games and contests for kids, families and guests of all ages. Players from the Sweets and around the league were able to meet the fans that would cheer them on the next day at the All-Star Game. That festival atmosphere will be replicated in 2013, with a few tweaks to make it even more fan- and family-friendly.

"We had such great success last year," said Sweets vice-president and general manager Zachary Fraser. "The chance to celebrate the fun that is Sweets baseball in the heart of our city's historic downtown, and to partner with our great friends at the Foundation in that effort to make it free for the whole community, is something we are thrilled to be able to be a part of. It will be a great way to jump-start the summer."

"Our Sweets are such a big part of the community," said Elio Agostini, executive director of the Downtown Walla Walla Foundation. "We are pleased to be involved with celebrating the season, and to invite our neighbors and friends downtown to enjoy the festivities."
