Green Bay, WI -The Green Bay Blizzard (1-4) go on the road for a second week in a row to play longtime IFL foe the Sioux Falls Storm (2-2) at the Sioux Falls Arena Sunday, April 7 at 3:05 p.m.
This will be the seventh meeting between the two teams. The Storm defeated the Blizzard 64-41 earlier this season during the IFL's Kickoff Classic on Feb. 15.
The Blizzard are coming off a dramatic come-from-behind double overtime 41-38 victory over the previously undefeated Cedar Rapids Titans. WR/DB B.J Hill caught a 20-yard pass in the second overtime to lead the Blizzard to their first victory of the season. K Jordan Wettstein was named IFL Special Teams Player of the Week as he converted three field goals including one that tied the game with no time left in regulation. The Blizzard's defense shut down a Titans offense that was one of the best in the IFL.
The Storm come into the game in an unfamiliar place in the standings. The Storm rank third in the United Conference with a 2-2 record. As a result, the Storm have reached back into their past as the team re-signed long-time QB Terrance Bryant on Tuesday. Bryant owns almost every major passing record for the Storm and was the leader of the team for five national championships and a professional football record 40-game win streak. He will be throwing to the IFL's all-time leader in receptions in James Terry. Terry is fourth in the IFL in receiving yards with 301.
The Storm's defense is statistically the best in the IFL. Sioux Falls leads the league in points allowed (28.8) and yards allowed (167.3). The Storm defense is led by LB Tyler Knight, who is fourth in the league in tackles with 50.
After struggling during back-to-back weeks, the Blizzard offense was efficient and tied a season-high 41 points vs. the Titans. The team will have a new obstacle to overcome this week as RB Joel Yogerst was placed on season-ending IR with a broken foot on Tuesday. After another solid week, WR Ryan Balentine now leads the IFL in receptions with 28. The Blizzard will look for their offensive momentum against the Titans to carry over against the Storm
Defensively, the Blizzard have emerged as one of the best defenses in the IFL during the last three weeks. The team has allowed an average of just 28.8 points per game during that span. Last week, LB Derek Earls led the team with 13 tackles, a sack and two tackles for loss.
