Alaska Aces News Release
The Alaska Aces added defensemen Corey Syvret and Brad Gorham to their roster Monday, on the day that ECHL playoff rosters were due to the league, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced. The official Aces playoff roster is expected to be announced on Tuesday. Syvret rejoins the Aces after a nearly three-month call-up to the American Hockey League and Gorham re-signed with the club after playing sparingly this season. The Aces begin their quest for a third Kelly Cup Title this Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6 when they host the San Francisco Bulls in Games 1 & 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals. Tickets are now available at the Aces office, Sullivan Arena Box Office, Fred Meyer locations or online at www.ticketmaster.com. All Aces games can be heard on NewsTalk 103.7FM and 750AM KFQD. Syvret, 24, was assigned to the Aces by the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. He has played in 32 games for Alaska this season and had 18 points (1g, 17a). His most recent game with the Aces came on January 6 - the day the NHL Lockout ended. During his loan to Toronto, Syvret appeared in 11 games for the Marlies, where he registered 18 penalty minutes. On Saturday Syvret signed a contract with the Marlies, but he was reassigned to Alaska on Monday.
Gorham, 26, is a rookie defenseman who filled in this season when the Aces were short on the blue line. The former University of Alaska - Anchorage captain played in 12 games for the Aces, tallying two assists, 15 penalty minutes and a +5 rating. Upon being signed, Gorham was placed on reserve.
