Pacifics, Admirals to Play Exhibition Game in Vallejo

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - The San Rafael Pacifics and the Vallejo Admirals have announced that there will be an exhibition game played among the Pacifics' local players and non-roster invitees for both teams on Saturday, April 6 at Wilson Park in Vallejo, Calif.

The first-year Admirals will give fans their first chance to see professional baseball in Vallejo for the first time by hosting the 2012 North American League champions at 1:00 PM at Wilson Park, with gates opening at noon.

Organized and run by the University of San Francisco sports management graduate class, the free exhibition will not only serve as a teaching tool for critical issues in operating sports franchises, but also as a showcase for non-roster invitees who hope to make either the Pacifics or Admirals rosters in 2013.

"The exhibition began as a class assignment for our graduate sports management program taught by Pacifics President and General Manager Mike Shapiro, but it's grown into something bigger," said USF graduate student Rosie Aguilera. "This game has become a chance for some really good ballplayers to get a shot at a job and for the Vallejo community to get a chance to see a pro-level game for free."

The Pacifics have been managed by 2008 College World Series champion Steve Detwiler and will have a number of players for the 2012 championship squad suit up against the Admirals.

Officials from both teams will assist the USF students with game day operations, and fans can expect a full game experience. There will be in-between inning games on the field, and concessions will be available. Additionally, fans will be able to participate in social media contests through the Pacifics' Twitter and Instagram accounts (@SRPacifics) leading up to the game.
