Jacks Put 42 Pucks On Net, Lose 8-2

ODESSA, TX - In the first game of "Shriner's Weekend" 2013, the Odessa Jackalopes set a new single-game season high in shots on goal with 42, but fell to the Topeka RoadRunners by a final score of 8-2 on Friday at Ector County Coliseum. With the loss, the Jacks fell to 6-44-3 overall this season and with 15 points, remain alone in sixth place in the NAHL's South Division standings.

Former Odessa forward Tyler Poulsen and his linemates Juraj Kucirko and Tyler Groat put on a show for the 'Runners in the first period, netting a trio of goals, two for Groat and one for Poulsen, with Kucirko collecting a pair of assists in the process to post a 3-0 Topeka lead after one period.

In the second, the first of three Kyle Sharkey goals made it 4-0 Topeka before Steven Haydon netted his fourth of the year for Odessa, a slick, in-close backhander at 15:24, assisted by Brett Wagner and Dylan Rosen. The second-place RoadRunners added three more scores before the second intermission, as Sharkey and Poulsen added their second tallies of the night and Tyler Andrew buried his 17th in the middle frame's final minute to make it 7-1 Topeka. In the third, Sharkey polished off his fourth hat-trick of the season at 2:17 before Jacks defenseman Matthieu Audet scored the game's final goal at 5:03 with Taylor Portner and Anthony Olguin collecting assists on the play.

Five different 'Runners skaters earned multi-point games Friday as Kucirko finished with three assists, Poulsen posted two goals and an assist, Sean Gaffney notched a pair of helpers, Sharkey had three goals and Groat turned in a two-tally evening.

Next up for the Jacks, it's a Saturday rematch with the RoadRunners with the opening faceoff set for 7:05 pm at Ector County Coliseum.
