Walla Walla Sweets News Release
WALLA WALLA, Wash. - Spring has arrived in Walla Walla and with that comes the start of baseball. With the college season in full swing, little league teams just gearing up, and the start of Walla Walla Sweets baseball just a few months away - the team will open the 2013 season on June 5- the Walla Walla Sweets are excited to announce the return of Camp #57, a week-long camp for youth ages 8 to 18, as well as the addition of Sweet Lou's Skills Camp presented by the YMCA for children ages 6 to 8. Each camp will offer local children the opportunity to improve their baseball skills with instruction from Sweets' pitching coach Mark Michaud and Sweets players.
"Camp #57 registration and attendance have grown exponentially over the last three seasons drawing kids from Pendleton and Tri-Cities," said Sweets vice president and general manager Zachary Fraser. "Last year we realized that we were missing a chance to reach younger children with our Camp #57 and decided that the addition of a camp for kids ages 6 to 8 would be beneficial. We've partnered with the Walla Walla YMCA to add Sweet Lou's Skills Camp which will allow Walla Walla's newest baseball players to learn from our coaches and players."
Sweet Lou's Skills Camp, presented by the YMCA, is for children ages 6 to 8 and will run from Wednesday, June 19 through Friday, June 21 from 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at Borleske Stadium. Sweets coaches and players will instruct campers in foundational skills and drills. The cost to register is just $65 for individuals who sign up before May 20. Standard registration will be $80, and YMCA members can register their children for just $60. Campers will receive a camp t-shirt, a camp certificate, an individual picture with Sweet Lou, and a pizza party on June 21. Each child will also receive one General Admission ticket to the Sweets' game against the Medford Rogues on June 21.
