Medford Rogues News Release
MEDFORD, OR - After a week of voting by Medford Elementary School children, more than 800 entries and a grueling selection process, Rowdy made his debut as the Medford Rogues' mascot today in front of a packed house at Lone Pine Elementary School in Medford.
The winning name was submitted by Isabella Heggem, a student in Mrs. Capsey's kindergarten class. Isabella received a Rogues apparel package and every student at Lone Pine received a free ticket for the team's first game on May 31.
"This process is always fun - getting ideas we'd never even thought of," said Rogues General Manager Chuck Heeman. "We had a lot of ideas bouncing around the office but really wanted to leave it up to the kids. The mascot is really to make kids happy, so we were very fortunate to have the cooperation of the Medford School District in picking the name."
The Rogues plan to make Rowdy a fixture in the Rogue Valley, starting with his debut at Lone Pine Elementary School today.
