Chicago Sky News Release
CHICAGO, Mar 6, 2013 - Head Coach and General Manager Pokey Chatman announced today that the Chicago Sky have signed 5-10 guard Allie Quigley to a training camp contract. Per team policy, terms of the contract have not been released.
"I've had the opportunity over the past couple of years to watch Allie grow her game, and I'm pleased to have her join our training camp" said Sky Head Coach and General Manager Pokey Chatman. "Her ability to stretch the defense and score the ball has helped her lead her team, not only in scoring, but to it's first ever Euro-league Final 8 appearance."
Allie Quigley was originally selected by the Seattle Storm in the second round (22nd overall) of the 2008 WNBA Draft. After being released by the Storm, she signed with the Phoenix Mercury as a free agent on May 11, 2008. The former DePaul standout played in 20 games for the Mercury over the course of the 2008 and 2009 seasons, winning a WNBA championship as a member of the Mercury in 2009. Quigley's WNBA career has included stops with the San Antonio Silver Stars and Indiana Fever, both in 2010, before returning to the Seattle Storm as a free agent in August 2011. Quigley has played in 34 WNBA games during her career, shooting 44% from three-point range since 2009.
Quigley is currently playing in Slovakia with Good Angels Kosice where she led her club to their first EuroLeague Final Eight, while averaging 16.1 points per game - tied for the 9th best scoring average in Euroleague play. The 5'10 guard did so while shooting 50.3% from the field (12th best Euroleague,) and ranks as the Euroleague's #1 three-point shooter (field goal percentage) connecting on 31 of 59 three's for a blistering 52.5%. Quigley's prolific scoring ability, 15.1 points per game, high percentage shooting and multi-dimensional guard play, has also guided the reigning Slovakian league champions to a perfect 16-0 record in league play. Quigley previously played for PEAC-Pecs in Hungary (2009-2011) where she was selected to play in the 2011 EuroLeague Women's All-Star game, scoring nine points in the Rest of the World team's 116-88 win over Europe. Quigley's first overseas professional experience came with Mersin in Turkey (2008-2009) where she averaged 12.6 points per game in the Turkish Basketball League.
