Against Missouri the Wave quickly jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after the first quarter thanks to two goals by Ian Bennett. The Comets would turn things around in the second when Leo Gibson converted two goals to tie the game at four. Byron Alvarez scored early in the third to give Missouri the lead, but Bryan Perez would answer back with his first goal as a member of the Wave. Mads Falck put Missouri back on top after a goal, and Missouri led 8-6 with one quarter remaining. In the fourth Alvarez scored again, extending Missouri's lead to 10-6, but Bennett completed his hat trick with a three point goal to inch the Wave closer. That is all the Wave could manage, as Missouri would add three more goals increasing their total to 17-9 and giving them their second win over Milwaukee this season.
The Wave rebounded and defeated the Chicago Soul on Monday, completing the season sweep. Goals by Tenzin Rampa and Luan Oliveira gave the Wave a 4-0 lead after the first quarter. Ian Bennett and Pablo added goals for their respective teams, and the Wave were in front 6-2 at the half. Bennett added another goal for Milwaukee in the third, but Chicago's Carlos "Chile" Farias dominated the quarter, completing a hat trick and the game was tied 8-8 with a quarter left. In the fourth Chicago scored first as Carlos Munoz gave Chicago their first lead of the game at 10-8. Milwaukee answered on goals by Nick Perera and Hewerton to regain the advantage at 12-10. Bennett scored an open net goal to get a hat trick and extend the lead to 15-10. After the play a scuffle broke out that resulted in penalties for Milwaukee's Bennett and Chicago's Alex Megson, plus the ejection of Chicago's Fred Degand. Neither team would score again, and the Wave triumphed over the Soul 15-10.
Milwaukee will take on Baltimore this Saturday at 6:35 p.m. in a matchup of the league's top two teams. Both teams are looking to claim the top spot for the MISL playoffs. Milwaukee has a 2-1 advantage in the season series.
In the two teams' first meeting the Blast defeated the Wave 15-4. Things were close in the first as Mike Deasel and Tino Nunez scored for Baltimore, while Giuliano Oliviero put the Wave on the board making it 4-2 at the end of the quarter. In the second quarter Tony Donatelli gave the Blast two more points to make it 6-2, The Wave would add a goal to get within 6-4, but Lucas Roque scored near the end of the quarter to give the Blast an 8-4 lead at the half. The Blast continued to roll in the second half, holding the Wave scoreless while getting seven more points of their own to secure the 15- 4 victory.
In the second matchup Milwaukee had an early 4-0 lead thanks to two goals from Luan Oliveira. That would be all the scoring for the first quarter. The second quarter remained scoreless until the end of the half when Aduato Neto put Baltimore on the board cutting the Wave's lead to 4-2. Baltimore jumped ahead 5-4 in the third on a three point goal by Mike Lookingland. Late in the third the Wave regained the lead on a power play goal by Hewerton, giving the team a 6-5 lead at the end of three quarters. Marcel Feenstra held Baltimore scoreless in the fourth and the Wave won 6-5.
The third game of the season saw Baltimore jump out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter on goals from Tony Donatelli, and Machel Millwood. The second quarter was the opposite, with the Wave tying the game at 4-4 with Fabinho and Ian Bennett scoring. Bennett would score another goal early in the third to make it 6-4 Milwaukee, but Lucas Roque answered to tie the game with one quarter remaining. Both teams would score two-point goals in the fourth quarter, and the score was 8-8 going into overtime. It was Josh rife who played hero for Milwaukee scoring the game winning goal in overtime, to give them a 10-8 win, and at the time put the Wave on top of the MISL standings.
After a visit to Baltimore the Wave head to Rochester to face off against the Lancers Sunday at 3:00 p.m. The two teams have met three times already, with the Wave winning each time.
The first game saw Milwaukee jump out to an early lead and never look back. They were up 11-2 heading into halftime on goals by Josh Rife, Marcelo Fontana, Nick Perera, and Joe Hammes. Rochester scored two more goals in the third and fourth quarters, but Fontana would add his second goal to put the game out of reach, and Milwaukee came out with a 13-6 win.
In the second game the Wave would notch another win, this time beating Rochester 14-12. Luan Oliveira got the scoring going in the first to put the Wave up 2-0. Doug Miller would come back with two scores of his own, but goals by Marcio Leite and Ian Bennett put the Wave ahead 6-4 after the first quarter. Rochester tied things early in the second, but the Wave would answer with scores from Hewerton and Oliveira to give them a 10-6 after two quarters of play. Oliveira completed his hat trick with the only goal of the third quarter. The teams would battle back and forth in the final quarter, but Milwaukee would hold off Rochester's late rally.
The third contest between the two teams ended up with the same result another Wave victory. Israel Sesay and Giuliano Oliviero got the scoring started fro Milwaukee, as they were on top 4-2 after one quarter of play. Although Mauricio Salles scored for Rochester in the second quarter (his second of the game), JP Rodrigues, Nick Perera, and Sesay all contributed to Milwaukee's six point quarter, and the Wave had a 10-4 lead over Rochester at the end one half. Rochester dominated the third, holding the Wave scoreless, and trimming their deficit to 10-9 with only a quarter to play. In the fourth Perera scored once more to extend the Wave's lead to 12-9. Although Rochester would score themselves, a late goal by Ian Bennett would help the Wave clinch a 14-9 victory.
