Silver Knights Look to Build on Dramatic OT Win

Syracuse Silver Knights News Release
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Silver Knights of the MISL are looking to build on last week's heroic come-from-behind overtime victory over Rochester when the Wichita Wings visit the Oncenter War Memorial Arena this Friday, February 22, at 7:30 p.m.
"Just like last weekend at Rochester, both teams will be playing with their whole season on the line," said Syracuse head coach Tommy Tanner. "We need to continue to take things one game at a time and focus on the task at hand. If we do that, everything else should fall into place."
Syracuse will wear its third specialty jersey of the season on Friday night: a pink jersey, trimmed in orange. Each Silver Knights player's jersey will be auctioned off immediately after the game, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Friday's game is also Diabetes Awareness Night and includes a Happy Hour starting at 5:30 with the Mike McKay on the War Memorial Stage. Happy Hour Specials include $2.50 drafts and $2.00 hot dogs.
The Silver Knights kept their playoff dreams alive last weekend despite trailing the Lancers in Blue Cross Arena 13-6 late in the third quarter. Andriy Budnyy sent the game to overtime by equalizing with 11 seconds to play, and Kenardo Forbes scored the game-winner in the extra session. The Wings and Silver Knights are no strangers to overtime contests, with two of their three previous meetings this season going beyond regulation. Wichita claimed 8-6 and 12-10 overtime wins over Syracuse, and the Wings won the teams' most recent meeting, 14-8 at Hartman Arena on Dec. 28.
"Sure, revenge will be a motivating factor for Friday," said Tanner, "but we can't get caught up in the past and what might have been. As long as we keep our heads in the present and play our game, we can start building a winning streak and finish strong."
Wichita enters Friday's game on a three-game losing streak and in last place in the MISL standings. The Wings have dropped eight of their last nine contests.
With four games left on Syracuse's regular season schedule, the Knights are vying for the fourth and final playoff spot with Chicago, Wichita, and Rochester. With Wichita dropping its last two games in excruciating fashion, the Knights will look to capitalize on the momentum they earned with last weekend's win and continue to steamroll toward a spot in the MISL postseason.
The game will also feature the 2nd Annual Syracuse Media Halftime Game. The following local members of the media will compete in a full sided indoor game on Driver's Village Field:
