MONTGOMERY, Ala. - All Med Physicians and the Montgomery Biscuits will award Prattville Primary with a grant to fund a school project through All Med's Pitch a Project program on Thursday, February 20, at 10:00 a.m.
All Med's Pitch a Project is a grant program created for schools in the Montgomery, Prattville and Wetumpka area, aimed at encouraging teachers to "ËPitch a Project' based on their specific needs relating to health and life sciences that would benefit their class and curriculum. One teacher's classroom is awarded up to $500 to fund their project per month until April 2013.
All Med selected a project submitted by Denise Syslo, a Second grade teacher at Prattville Primary. Ms. Syslo plans to use the funds from All Med to purchase a portable habitat and a digital school microscope, as well as additional microscopes and slides. The materials will also become a part of the school's new science lab and will benefit more than 650 students. By participating in the project, students will observe the life cycles of various plants and animals and fully experience all areas of the Alabama Course of Study. "The children will have a chance to get away from the overwhelming classroom environment and escape into hands-on activities," said Ms. Syslo.
The winning teachers and their families will join the Biscuits and All Med Physicians' representatives on the field before a Biscuit's home game at Riverwalk Stadium during the 2013 season. All Med plans to fund two more grants before the month of April. For more information about All Med's Pitch a Project, call the Montgomery Biscuits at 334-323-0361, or log on to biscuitsbaseball.com.
