Dallas Sidekicks to Host Texas Strikers Saturday in Final Regular Season Match

ALLEN, Texas (Feb. 21, 2013) - The Dallas Sidekicks look to sweep their regular season series against the Texas Strikers Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. in the team's last match before beginning a playoff run.

The Sidekicks (12-3) have a 3-0 record when up against the Strikers (3-12) this season, defeating the team based out of Beaumont by record-setting increments. The two teams first faced off at Ford Arena in Beaumont on December 1, where the Sidekicks claimed a 10-3 victory. The next time the two met on December 15 resulted in a historic 21-1 Sidekicks win at home at the Allen Event Center. A few weeks later the Sidekicks took the series to 3-0 with a 16-4 win on the road on December 29. The Texas Strikers are new to the PASL in 2012 and are coached by Chris "Topper" Cogan, who previously coached at Sam Houston State and Angelo State. The team's current road record is 1-6.

It will be Fan Appreciation Night at the Allen Event Center Saturday night, the first 2,000 kids in attendance 16 and under to receive a free soccer ball.

After Saturday's match, the Sidekicks will immediately head to Hildago, TX where the next day they will play Game One of their first playoff series at State Farm Arena at 3:00 p.m. The second leg of the divisional round will be back home at the Allen Event Center on Thursday, February 28 at 7:30 p.m.

In the case of a split in the two matches, a 30-minute mini-game will immediately follow Game Two to determine who moves on. The Ron Newman Cup semi-finals and championship game will be held at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego on March 10 and 11.
