Dallas Sidekicks to Face Rio Grande Valley in Opening Round of Playoffs

February 18, 2013 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) Dallas Sidekicks

ALLEN, Texas (Feb. 18, 2013) - The Dallas Sidekicks will begin their playoff run and quest for the PASL Ron Newman Cup on the road this Sunday at 3:00 p.m. The Sidekicks (12-3) will take on divisional rival Rio Grande Valley (12-4) in a two-leg series that will conclude at the Allen Event Center on February 28.

Before playoffs action begins, the Sidekicks will finish out their regular season at home, taking on the Texas Strikers (3-12) on Saturday, February 23 at 7:00 p.m. It will be Fan Appreciation Night at the Allen Event Center, the first 2,000 kids in attendance 16 and under to receive a free soccer ball.

After the match, the Sidekicks will immediately head to Hildago, TX where the next day they will play Game One of the playoff series at State Farm Arena at 3:00 p.m. The second leg of the divisional round will be back home at the Allen Event Center on Thursday, February 28 at 7:30 p.m. In the case of a split in the two matches, a 15-minute mini-game will immediately follow Game Two to determine who moves on. The Ron Newman Cup semi-finals and championship game will be held at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego on March 10 and 11.

The Sidekicks head into the end of their season led in points by Jamie Lovegrove, who has scored 22 goals so far this season. Not far behind is Franck Mbemba, who has scored a point (goal or assist) in all but two of the 14 games he has played.

Goaltender Sagu remains among the best in the league with a goals against average of 3.56 and save percentage of .792.
