Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release
BINGHAMTON, NY - The Binghamton Mets are proud to announce that a dedicated group of local volunteers have stepped forward to start a B-Mets Booster Club to help promote the team in the community.
"The B-Mets recently secured a four-year extension of the player development contract with the New York Mets and now we want to do everything we can to enhance fan experience at the stadium", said team owner Michael Urda.
Denis Wickham, a life-long resident of the Greater Binghamton Area and season ticket holder since the team's inception in 1992, has been selected to lead the volunteer organization and will work closely with General Manager Jim Weed.
Wickham detailed the primary objectives of the organization:
- Increase community support of the B-Mets
- Support the players and make their experience in our community rewarding and memorable
- Increase attendance
"We will be pursuing several initiatives in the coming months including formation of a booster club by mid February," added Mr. Wickham. "We are in the process of reviewing our work plans with community leaders and have experienced very positive feedback."
Senator Tom Libous said, "For their twenty-plus years in our community, the Binghamton Mets have been a source of local pride. They've been a valuable partner and a true asset to our community. Every year, I look forward to attending events like the YES! Safe Choices For Kids Super Splash Day. I've been proud to support them throughout the years and I look forward to working with them and the Boosters in the future."
The first Booster Club meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 26th at 6:30 PM, in the Exhibit Room on the second floor of the Broome County Library in Binghamton. For more information, find the group on Facebook under Binghamton Mets Baseball Boosters or via bmetsboosters@gmail.com.
