Omaha Lancers News Release

Ralston, Neb. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) look to carry the momentum from their victory in the Mutual of Omaha Battles on Ice last Saturday into a busy three-game week against a pair of Western Conference rivals.

Omaha matched its longest winning streak of the season last weekend when the Lancers won back-to-back games for the team's fourth and fifth consecutive victories. First, Omaha prevailed with a 2-1 shootout victory in Des Moines on Friday after Tyler Moy scored the only goal in the shootout while Cole Bruns registered 35 saves during regulation and overtime before thwarting all three Buccaneers attempts in the extra session. The Lancers then claimed their fifth straight triumph and 10th win in the last 11 games with a 4-2 victory over the Lincoln Stars on Saturday in the Mutual of Omaha Battles on Ice at TD Ameritrade Park. Gage Hough and Robbie Baillargeon each scored twice as 13,523 fans enjoyed the USHL's first ever outdoor game. Alex Lyon backstopped the victory with 42 saves as the veteran netminder claimed his fourth straight win and eighth victory in his last nine starts.

The Lancers have little time to rest on their outdoor victory though as the team returns to action tomorrow evening as it opens up a home-and-home series with the Sioux Falls Stampede. Sioux Falls (29-11-2, 60 pts.) suffered a 7-1 loss to the Waterloo Black Hawks last Friday in its only game of the week. Waterloo's Justin Kloos registered five points while Taylor Cammarata and Zach Stepan each chipped in four points apiece for the Hawks as the Stampede suffered just their fourth loss over the last 17 games. Sioux Falls does enter tomorrow's showdown at Ralston Arena having dropped three of its last four games, including a 5-3 defeat to the Lancers in the most recent head-to-head showdown back on January 30th. After tomorrow's contest, the two teams reconvene at the Sioux Falls Arena on Friday before the Stampede close out their busy week at home on Saturday against Lincoln.

Meanwhile, Omaha wraps up its busy three-game week with a home game of its own Saturday as the Lancers return to Ralston Arena to take on the Tri-City Storm. Tri-City (18-21-4, 40 pts.) dropped a pair of one-goal decisions last weekend suffering a 4-3 defeat in Lincoln on Friday before returning home Saturday only to absorb a 3-2 setback to the Fargo Force. The Storm enter the week having dropped five of their last eight contests and eight of 12 overall. Saturday's showdown will be Tri-City's third game in as many days as the Storm open up a busy three-game week of their own Thursday at home against Lincoln before heading up to Sioux City on Friday to battle the Musketeers.
