Jacksonville Sharks News Release

JACKSONVILLE - The 2012 South Division Champion Jacksonville Sharks added an offensive lineman with championship experience Friday, announcing that SirVincent Rogers has been assigned to the team's roster on a three-year contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"We have had a good offseason so far but this addition is huge," Sharks head coach Les Moss said. "SirVincent comes to us with the experience of winning a championship in this league and we are very excited to have him here for the next three years. He is a physical, talented player who will help us get back to a championship level."

The 26-year-old Rogers (6'4", 315) heads to Jacksonville after being a part of the ArenaBowl XXV champion Arizona Rattlers as a rookie in 2012. Rogers saw action along the offensive line in 15 of Arizona's regular season games this past season, making a pair of starts along the way. His playing time ramped up during the Rattlers' championship run, as he started each of the team's first two postseason games and appeared in ArenaBowl XXV.

In addition to his work in pass protection and run blocking, Rogers showed his athleticism by catching five passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns, including a remarkable 45-yard catch-and-run score in Week 18 against Utah. Rogers' two touchdown catches came in consecutive contests, and he also hauled in a 10-yard reception in ArenaBowl XXV.

Prior to beginning his AFL career, Rogers signed with the NFL's Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2009, spending time with the team during training camp.

Rogers spent his college career at the University of Houston, where he was a teammate of Shark receiver Jeron Harvey. Upon arriving on campus for the 2004 season, Rogers broke into the lineup by starting eight games at right tackle during his freshman season, earning a spot on the Conference USA All-Freshman team. He was a mainstay along the offensive line before suffering a season-ending knee injury during the early part of the 2006 season. After redshirting in 2007 while rehabbing his knee, Rogers returned to action to cap his career by playing in six games as a fifth-year senior in 2008.

Rogers is a native of Jasper, Texas and attended Jasper High School.
