Blaze Return Home for Weekend Rematches, Guns and Hoses Night

January 3, 2013 - Central Hockey League (CHL) - Bloomington Blaze News Release

The Bloomington Blaze, fueled by Mid-Illini Credit Union, begin a four-game homestand this Friday and Saturday as they continue a long series with the Arizona Sundogs.

The Blaze enter the weekend in seventh place in the Central Hockey League with a record of 16-13-1 for 33 points, while the Sundogs are in eight place with 30 points on a record of 13-15-4. The Blaze defeated the Sundogs 6-3 on Friday but lost 4-1 on Saturday and 8-2 on Monday during the trip to Arizona. Jon Booras recorded the team's fifth hat trick of the season on Friday and added a pair of assists for a five-point night, equaling the highest single-game total in the Central Hockey League this season. However, Monday's loss was the worst in the Blaze's brief history, both in number of goals surrendered and losing margin. The five-game stretch marks the only meetings of the season between the teams. The Blaze are 1-2-1 all-time against Arizona as the Sundogs defeated the Blaze in Bloomington on Feb. 10 of last year in a 5-4 shootout in the only other meeting between the clubs.

Booras leads the Blaze with 16 goals and 27 assists for 43 points, good for second in CHL scoring. His four goals and three assists lead the Blaze against Arizona. Chad Nehring leads the Sundogs with 18 goals and 12 assists for 30 points, and scored four goals in Monday's win to give him five goals and one assist against the Blaze. Jason Morgan leads the Sundogs in the series with one goal and six assists for seven points.

Unused season tickets may be redeemed for Friday's game at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum box office. The Junior Blaze will face off at 3 p.m. Friday, hosting the NWO Grrrowl with admission included in the Blaze ticket. Saturday is Guns and Hoses Night when local police officers and firefighters will play their annual game at 3 p.m. with admission included in the Blaze ticket. The Blaze will wear special jerseys that will be auctioned after the game to benefit Special Olympics Illinois.
