
Royals Sign Outfielder Xavier Nady to a Minor League Contract

KANSAS CITY, MO (December 14, 2012) - The Kansas City Royals announced today that the club has signed outfielder Xavier Nady to a minor league contract for the 2013 season. The club plans to announce Major League Spring Training invitations at a later date.
Nady, 34, has played 11 seasons in the Major Leagues with the Padres (2000, 2003-05), Mets (2006), Pirates (2006-08), Yankees (2008-09), Cubs (2010), Diamondbacks (2011), Nationals (2012) and Giants (2012). He is a career .270 hitter with 101 home runs and 406 RBI in 939 games. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound right-handed hitter and thrower split 2012 between the Nationals and Giants organizations, playing 59 games at the Major League level. Nady's best season came in 2008 when he hit .305 with 25 home runs and 97 RBI for the Pirates and Yankees.
