Bakersfield Jam News Release
BAKERSFIELD, December 10, 2012 - Damion James (23 pts, 11 rebs) and Atlanta Hawks assignee Mike Scott (21 pts, 10 rebs) had double-doubles as the Jam defeated the Bighorns 114-109 Monday night in Reno. Bakersfield improves to a 5-3 record while Reno falls to 2-3 on the season.
Both teams began the game shooting lights out from the field resulting in a 35-34 score to end the first quarter. The Jam held a one point lead heading into the second period and extended that lead to 68-61 at halftime, thanks in part to great free-throw shooting in the quarter (17-19 FT's). Second half remained close with both teams knocking down clutch baskets. With 4:12 left in the game and a 107-101 Jam lead, Bakersfield knocked down key free-throws down the stretch that ultimately sealed the victory. The Jam finished the game with a total of 42 made free-throws out of 48 attempted (87.5%).
Stephen Dennis had a game-high 24 points and grabbed six rebounds off the bench. Toronto Raptors assignee Quincy Acy had 12 points while Jerel McNeal finished with 11 points.
The Reno Bighorns were led by Darnell Jackson with 22 points and seven rebounds while Anthony Richardson finished with 16 points and seven rebounds. Garrett Temple and Antoine Wright both had 14 points on the night.
The Bakersfield Jam will travel back home and face the Tulsa 66ers twice on Friday, December 14 and Saturday, December 15. Both days are set to tip off at 7pm PT at the Dignity Health Event Center.
