Stingrays Captain Weller Loaned to St. John's

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 20 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry and proud ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that forward Shawn Weller has been loaned to the St. John's IceCaps of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Weller, 26, skated in 24 games with the Stingrays this season scoring seven goals and eight assists for 15 points. The Glens Falls, New York, native appeared in 41 games with the IceCaps last season adding 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists). Weller dressed in 291 games in the American Hockey League over the past six seasons with the Binghamton Senators, Abbotsford Heat, Manitoba Moose, IceCaps and Texas Stars totaling 44 goals and 43 assists for 87 points. Prior to turning pro, the third-round selection (77th overall) by the Ottawa Senators in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft attended Clarkson University for three seasons and won and ECAC championship in 2006-07.
