B-Sens Extend Win Streak to Five Games with 2-1 Win over Crunch

November 23, 2012 - American Hockey League (AHL) Binghamton Senators

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators continued their winning ways tonight in Syracuse as they defeated the Crunch, 2-1. Shots on goal favored Syracuse, 31-24. The victory extends Binghamton's winning streak to five games.

It only took the B-Sens 73 seconds of play in the first period to get on the board. Forward Tyler Eckford provided the game's first goal as Derek Grant and Frederik Claesson were credited with the assists.

Scoring would come to a halt until 1:11 of the third frame when Syracuse's Mark Barberio put the puck in his own net. The fluke goal was credited to Grant and gave the B-Sens a 2-0 lead.

Barberio's mistake would prove costly for the Crunch as a power play goal by Richard Panik at 6:12 would have tied the game at one. Instead, Syracuse could not close the one-goal gap, and Binghamton would hold on to secure a 2-1 victory.

B-Sens goaltender Robin Lehner earned his seventh win of the season as he compiled 30 saves while only allowing one goal. Dustin Tokarski tended goal for Syracuse after stopping 22 out of the 24 Binghamton shots.

The B-Sens return home to complete a stretch of three games in three days tomorrow night as they host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are $19 for side and $18 for end seats. Fans can purchase tickets through the B-Sens executive office by calling (607) 722-SENS (7367), the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena box office, and all Ticketmaster outlets.
