Iowa Cubs News Release

Des Moines, IA - Minor League Baseball and the Topps Company announced their 2012 Triple-A© All-Star Team yesterday and named Anthony Rizzo of the Iowa Cubs as the first baseman on this year's squad. This is the third straight season that an Iowa Cubs player has been named to this prestigious team. Bryan LaHair was the first baseman last year and Brad Snyder was named as an outfielder in 2010.

Rizzo batted .342 with 23 home runs and 62 RBI in 70 games with Iowa before getting called up to Chicago on June 26. At the time of his promotion, he was leading all of minor league baseball in slugging (.696), was second in OPS (1.101), and third in both homers and total bases (179). Rizzo hit .285 with 15 home runs and 48 RBI in 87 games with Chicago to finish the year.
