The Dynamo will meet the winner of the Western Conference Championship between the Seattle Sounders and LA Galaxy in MLS Cup on Saturday, Dec. 1, with the Western Conference champion as host.
The MLS Cup Trophy will visit Houston on Tuesday for two special events. First, from 5-7 p.m., the trophy will be at the adidas Dynamo Team Store at BBVA Compass Stadium (2200 Texas St., Houston). Fans will have the opportunity to take a picture with the trophy with BBVA Compass Stadium serving as the backdrop.
Later Tuesday, from 8-10 p.m., the trophy will be at Bar Munich (2616 Louisiana St., Houston) in midtown for a special edition of Dynamo All-Access on Sportstalk 790 AM. The radio show will include player interviews and will be broadcast live from Bar Munich. The MLS Cup Trophy will also be present for photo opportunities.
Garcia delivered Houston's crucial opening goal in the 33rd minute. Brad Davis collected the ball in a crowd just outside the penalty area before carrying the ball to the endline. Davis then played a perfect pass to Garcia at the corner of the six-yard box, where the Honduran blasted it into the net for a 1-0 lead.
It was Garcia's first career playoff goal and Davis' eight career playoff assist, extending a franchise record.
It was also Davis' third assist this postseason, setting a franchise record for assists in a single postseason.
Boskovic provided the equalizer for D.C. in the 83rd minute. He received a pass five yards outside the box and carried the ball into the penalty area before firing a shot from ten yards inside the near post for the tying goal.
The Dynamo, propelled by a 3-1 home win in the first leg of the series last Sunday, preserved the 4-2 aggregate lead for the final seven minutes to win the series.
Goalkeeper Tally Hall made five saves to set a franchise record for most career payoff saves. Hall has 36 career playoff saves, passing Pat Onstad's club record of 32.
It was Bobby Boswell's 14th playoff games with Dynamo. He passed Brian Mullan and Onstad for third on the franchise list.
It was Corey Ashe and Ricardo Clark's 12th career playoff game with the Dynamo. Both players passed Stuart Holden, Eddie Robinson and Wade Barrett for sixth on the franchise list.
The Dynamo are returning to MLS Cup for the second consecutive season.
Houston is now 12-6-4 all-time in the playoffs.
