Windsor Spitfires News Release

Kerby Rychel had two goals and three assists, as the Spitfires dominated the final 40 minutes in a 6-1 win over the Saginaw Spirit in front of 5,220 at the WFCU Centre on Thursday night.

Brady Vail had a pair of goals, while Pat Sieloff, Josh Ho-Sang and Nick Ebert each had two-point nights, as the Spits snapped a nagging, three-game losing streak.

Leading 3-1 late in the second period, Rychel's first of the game on a power play at 19:54 was a backbreaker for a Saginaw (9-11-2-1) club frustrated by another steady performance from Jaroslav Pavelka (27 saves) and a stifling Spitfires defense that allowed just 11 shots over the final 40 minutes.

Nick Moutrey scored the only goal for the Spirit, who lost top scorers Vincent Trocheck and Eric Locke to misconducts with the game out of reach in the third period.

Jake Paterson took the loss, giving up four goals on 30 shots. Nikita Serebryakov came on in relief after 40 minutes, and allowed two goals on 10 shots.

The Spitfires hit the road for a pair of games this weekend in Barrie (Saturday) and Owen Sound (Sunday afternoon).
