Bulls Bolster Blueline with Acquisition of Jake Cardwell

November 12, 2012 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) - Belleville Bulls News Release

BELLEVILLE, ON - Belleville Bulls Head Coach and General Manager George Burnett announced Monday morning that the team has acquired overaged blueliner Jake Cardwell from the Ottawa 67's. In exchange, the Bulls will send Ottawa Plymouth's third round pick in 2013, Oshawa's second round pick in 2014 and Saginaw's fifth round pick in 2014.

Cardwell joins the Bulls in his fifth OHL season, having played 233 career regular season games, tallying 20 goals and 69 assists to go with 231 penalty minutes.

"Jake is an established veteran who will bring size, mobility, skill and an edge to our lineup," said Burnett of the acquisition. "He will make significant contributions to our powerplay and provide us with some much needed offense."

The native of Niagara Falls has three goals and thirteen assists in 17 games this season, with several of those points helping boost Ottawa's powerplay to first in the Ontario Hockey League.

Cardwell joins the Bulls on Wednesday night when they host the Guelph Storm at the Yardmen Arena at 7:05pm. For tickets, contact the Bulls Box Office at 613-966-8338.
