Petersen Returns from Houston: Left Wing Nick Petersen was assigned to the Solar Bears from the Houston Aeros today. Petersen scored Orlando's first hat trick in a 5-3 Solar Bears win over South Carolina on Thursday. He currently leads the ECHL in points (12), is tied for first in goals (6) and has recorded at least two points in each of the five games he has played for Orlando this season.

Matchup:

The Solar Bears face the Greenville Road Warriors today as they wrap up a three game homestand that featured three different opponents at Amway Center. Orlando played their first ever home game as a member of the ECHL on Saturday, October, 20, defeating the Florida Everblades in a 12-round shootout. On Thursday, LW Nick Petersen's hat trick boosted the Solar Bears to a 5-3 win over the South Carolina Stingrays. Orlando plays their next four games on the road before returning to the Amway Center to host the Gwinnett Gladiators for a 7:00 p.m. matchup on Wednesday, November 7.

Solar Bears Notes:

Orlando is riding a three-game winning streak coming into today's game... G John Curry is fifth in the ECHL with 305 saves... C Ryan Cruthers (5 goals, 2 assists), LW Nick Petersen (6 goals, 6 assists) and C Mathew Sisca (2 goals, 7 assists) have all recorded at least one point in all five Solar Bears games... Orlando has fired at least 40 shots on goal in three of their five games this season.

Road Warriors Notes:

Greenville was in action last night, defeating the Florida Everblades 3-2... After taking seven shots in the first period of yesterday's game, Greenville fired 13 shots in the second period and 14 shots in the third, to end the game with 34 shots on goal... F Sean Berkstresser is tied for third in the league with a 40.0% shooting percentage.

The Orlando Solar Bears, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild and AHL's Houston Aeros, are in their Out of Hibernation season and will play 36 regular season home games at the 2012 Street and Smith's Sports Business Journal Sports Facility of the Year, the Amway Center.
