Pohlen to Miss Remainder of WNBA Finals with Torn ACLOctober 20, 2012 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) Indiana Fever
Pohlen, who led the WNBA in 3-point field goal percentage as a rookie and was 5-of-5 from 3-point range in this year's playoffs, sustained the injury of the second quarter last Wednesday at Target Center. She averaged 4.4 points during her second season in 2012. She was fourth on the Fever team with 32 3-pointers.
She is expected to return for the 2013 WNBA season.
The Fever, meanwhile, dispatched the Minnesota Lynx with a 76-59 win in Game 3 of the Finals on Friday, to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five-game series. Indiana hosts Game 4 on Sunday evening (8:00 p.m., ESPN2, 1070 The Fan) with hopes of capturing its first WNBA crown. It would be the city's first professional basketball championship since the 1973 Indiana Pacers in the ABA.
A WNBA playoff participant in eight straight seasons and nine times since 2002, the Indiana Fever has reached at least the Eastern Conference Finals in five of the past eight years. Participating in the WNBA Finals for the second time in four years, Indiana hosts the Minnesota Lynx in Game 4 of the Finals on Sunday, Oct. 21 (8:00 p.m.).
