Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

Pensacola, Fla. - Oct. 18, 2012 - Pensacola Ice Flyers' head coach, Gary Graham, has reduced his main camp roster by five players after Wednesday's afternoon scrimmage session.

Graham selected five standouts from this past weekend's free-agent camp to join his 2012-13 main camp: forward John Ulman; forward Josh Moles; forward Anthony Criscuolo; forward Rob Thomas; and goaltender Ryan Fitzsimmons. Late in the day on Wednesday, those same five were released.

"It's been a very competitive camp and tough decisions had to be made," Graham commented. "The five players I released all had skill and competed hard, and I chose to bring them to our main camp for that reason. I've made some calls to help them find a place to play this season, and I wish them all the best of luck."

The main camp roster is now down to 13 forwards, eight defensemen and three goalies, including 7 returning players that were finalists for the 2012 Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) President's Cup.

Thursday is the last day of training camp, followed by a scrimmage versus the Mississippi Surge on Friday, Oct 19 at 3-5 p.m. on Tom Thumb Ice at the Pensacola Bay Center that is free and open to the public. The Ice Flyers will then travel to Columbus, GA on Saturday to take on the Cottonmouths in an exhibition game at 6:30 p.m. CST.

"More difficult decisions lie ahead in the next few days," Graham added. "We have a great deal of talent and a high compete level in camp this year. As tough as these choices will be, in the end, we still need to get down to 18 players for the season opener on Oct. 26 in Columbus."
