Wranglers Win 4-2 over Aces in Final Preseason Game

Anchorage, Alaska - In their fourth and final preseason game tonight, the Las Vegas Wranglers won 4-2 over the Alaska Aces to finish the preseason with a 1-3 record.

Wranglers center Mickey Lang scored the first goal of the night, giving Las Vegas the 1-0 lead only eight minutes into the game. Goaltender Mitch O'Keefe held Alaska scoreless for the remainder of the period, and it wasn't until midway through the second that Aces center Nate Thompson scored to tie the game 1-1. Las Vegas regained the one-goal lead at the 15:11 mark on a wraparound goal from center Chris Francis, but Aces forward Tommy Mele returned the favor with an Alaska goal less than three minutes later. At the end of the second, the game was knotted 2-2.

Only 1:42 into the third, Wranglers forward Andrew Sarauer tallied a goal for Las Vegas' third lead of the night. A goal from defenseman Eric Springer made it a 4-2 game for the Wranglers midway through the final period, and the team held Alaska off to win the last preseason game of training camp.

The Wranglers open the regular season on the road against the Bakersfield Condors on Sunday, Oct. 14. Opening weekend at Orleans Arena takes place Friday, Oct. 19, and Saturday, Oct. 20, against the Stockton Thunder. Tonight's full box score can be found here .
