Watertown Privateers News Release

Veteran defenseman Carter Trevisani brings his talents and Olympic experience to the 1000 Islands Privateers. The Carlisle, Ontario native has had an extensive career that started in the Ontario Hockey League with the Ottawa 67's, an organization renowned for advancing players through the pro ranks. From Ottawa, the six foot one Trevisani went to Europe and played in the Italian A1 Elite League and the Swedish 2nd League, before returning to the Federal Hockey League with the Akwasasne Warriors. Trevisani considers the highlight of his career when he was chosen to represent Italy in the Olympics in 2006.

Coach Paul Kelly believes Trevisani will be another veteran presence needed to compete in the Federal Hockey League. "Adding Carter Trevisani gives us the puck moving defenseman that we need. When you can add a player, especially a defenseman, who has played at the higher levels it is always going to benefit your team. He has been one of the leading scorers on the back end of every team he has played on and I expect that to continue with us," Kelly said.

The Privateers are also excited to announce that Carthage Area Hospital will be the official healthcare provider of the The Privateers. Carthage Area Hospital physicians will serve as team physicians. All healthcare needs of the entire team will be serviced by Carthage Area Hospital.

"In meeting with the leadership of Carthage Area Hospital, it was clear that their extensive network of providers and services would be a great fit with the Privateers," Privateers owner Nicole Kirnan said, ""We are looking forward to a fantastic partnership." Executive Director of Carthage Area Hospital Natalie Burnham says she and the hospital are thrilled with this new partnership. "All of us at Carthage Area Hospital are very excited about the opportunity to partner with the 1000 Islands Privateers. We are grateful for the partnership and looking forward to an incredible season," Burnham said.

The 1000 Islands Privateers are an 'A' level professional hockey team that competes in the Federal Hockey League. Entering into their third season, the Privateers begin their first year of play at the Watertown Fairgrounds Arena in Watertown, NY this season.
